This work (30 x 40) inches, oil & acrylic on canvas) shows a sample of my illustration style. I like to use simple shapes that capture childlike feelings. My subjects have not so much makeup. They are both real and whimsical.

When I was a child and discovered that birds had no hands, I got very worried for them. I thought, “Who can help them? They have no hands! If they are in trouble, how can they call 911?” This was a very real concern to me, and those feelings have stayed with me.

This illustration shows my concern. We are responsible. How can we help the falling chick? First, the man cutting the tree needs to help; he is responsible for watching where he is cutting and helping if his work causes a problem. Since there is no 911 for the birds, our responsibility is their only hope.
